are services confidential?
Yes, absolutely. People come to counselling to discuss sensitive issues and it is my professional obligation to keep your personal information completely confidential. All of my notes are kept in OWL, a secure electronic practice management system that is PHIPA compliant. There are some limitations to confidentiality which I will outline in our first meeting. In some cases I may ask for written permission to consult with other relevant health professionals or other third parties who request information regarding your care.
What is your fee?
My fee is $160 per hour long session (no HST). Sessions are 50 minutes and are prorated every 15 minutes if session is longer. I accept e-transfer, cash, cheque or credit card.
Are Social Work services covered by OHIP or Extended Health Insurance Policies?
Social Work services are not covered by OHIP can can be covered under many workplace extended health benefits. Please contact your insurance company to find out what services are covered under your plan. All Social Work services can be claimed as a medical expense for income tax purposes.
Do you provide a free initial consultation?
I provide a free 15 minute phone consultation for us to get some background and determine if I can address your needs for counselling.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require 48 hours for cancellation in order to offer the appointment to another person with enough notice. Otherwise, the full fee is charged.
What can I expect in a first session?
Our first full session is spent getting to know you and what brings you in for therapy. The beginning of therapy may feel quite intimidating considering that people come at a time of difficulty in their lives. I endeavor create a safe and supportive space to get to know you and explore the personal issues that bring you in for therapy. This is an opportunity for you to get to know me and see if it feels like a good fit to work together.
